Telephone appointments

GP telephone appointments are available in the morning 8:30am to 1pm or afternoon 2pm to 6:30pm. The appointment time booked is not when you will be called. Please give the phone number you would like to be called on when booking your appointment, and make sure that the phone is accessible during the morning or afternoon depending on the time you have booked morning or afternoon.

Please only book one of these appointments for things that can be dealt with over the phone such as medication reviews, to discuss test results and avoid booking things that will result in needing to be seen face to face with a GP.

Routine face to face appointments are also available to book online, these are called routine GP and again can either be booked via SystmOnline or via the NHS account

These are routine face to face GP appointments for things that cannot be dealt with over the phone.

Minor operations and procedures

You will need to speak to a GP before you can be booked for procedures such as contraceptive implants and cryotherapy.

Urine samples

We are only accepting samples at GP’s request, and are not accepting unsolicited samples. Patients must call to speak to a GP first.

GP appointments

Face to face and telephone GP appointments are bookable online or by telephoning the surgery up to 6 weeks in advance.

Please note that telephone calls are morning or afternoon, and not at specific times. Please ensure we have a contact number that we can call reliably.

Nurse and healthcare assistant (HCA) appointments

If you have been invited for immunisations, please contact the surgery on 01242 580511, or book via the booking link if you have received one.

Cervical smear examinations are taking place for patients who have been invited.  You must have received an invitation by letter from the cervical screening program.

Invitations for annual reviews for long term conditions (e.g. diabetes, COPD) will be sent during your birth month.

Blood tests will be conducted at the request of a clinician or hospital. Please specify who requested the test and if have form or not. If you wish to discuss having a blood test, you will need to book a telephone appointment with a GP first to assess if it is needed.

B12 injections will only be given if a GP has authorised this. Patients who have been prescribed B12 will have been sent a letter advising oral supplements, in line with NHS guidance.

Pill checks will be done by a nurse if there are no problems. If you are having an issue or wish to discuss an alternative contraceptive, you will need a telephone appointment with a GP.

Home visits

Please phone the surgery before 11:30am, so that we can arrange for you to be visited by the most appropriate member of the practice team.

Home visits are at the discretion of the practice who will determine if the visit is clinically necessary. Visits are reserved for patients who are genuinely housebound, including those in nursing and residential homes, and terminally ill patients.

Usually our on call doctor will contact you if you have requested a home visit.

It is helpful if you can indicate the nature and urgency of your call to the receptionist, as sometimes patients require urgent assessment.

The receptionist may therefore advise you to call an ambulance using our emergency protocol.
